The Miracles of Islam,

Fourteen centuries ago, Allah sent down the Qur'an. This book of guidance and wisdom calls man to the truth and instructs all human beings to adhere to the values which this mighty revelation contains. From the day of its revelation to the Day of Judgement, this last divine book will remain as the sole guide for humanity. The book of Allah states, “But it is nothing less than a Reminder to all the worlds.” (Qur’an, 68:52)

Ever since the Qur’an was revealed, it has possessed an easily understandable language and tone, accessible to all people and in all times. Allah tells us of this style in the Qur’an: “We have made the Qur’an easy to remember...” (Qur’an, 54:22)

The perfection of the literary language of the Qur’an, the incomparable features of its style and the superior wisdom contained within it are some of the definitive proofs that it represents the Word of our Lord.

In addition, the Qur'an contains within its words many miracles which prove it to be Allah’s Word. One of these attributes is the remarkable number of scientific truths which are contained in the holy book of Islam. In this book which was revealed over fourteen centuries ago to the Prophet Muhammad (saas), there are innumerable examples of information humanity have only been able to uncover by the technology of the 20th and 21st century.

Of course, we should not view the Qur'an as a book of science for it is primarily a book of moral and spiritual guidance. However, many scientific facts that are expressed in an extremely concise and profound manner, within the verses of the Qur’an, have only been discovered by scientists with the aid of the technological advancement of the 20th and 21st century. Quite simply, these facts which we now point out to the reader could not have been known at the time of the Qur'an's revelation, and this is still more proof that the Qur’an is the Word of Allah.

Questions about Black Stone

1- Shaykhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah  may  Allah  have  mercy  upon  him said, “No inanimate object can be kissed or given salutations except for the Black Stone.”

2- Kissing the Black Stone is an act of worship that is done by only one person at that moment.

3- Some hadiths stated: The Black Stone was sent down (to earth) from Paradise. But their isnad (chain of narrators) is doubtful.

4- Some hadiths stated: The Black Stone will testify for those who touched it. But their isnad is doubtful.

5- Some hadiths stated: When the Black Stone was sent down (to earth) from Paradise, it was whiter than milk, but the sins of the children of Adam turned it black. But their isnad is doubtful.

6- It is a stone that can neither bring about benefit nor cause harm, as ‘Umar Al-Farooq  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him said, and it was proven in the two Saheehs [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

7- While kissing it, one should kindly kiss it and not make a noise (of kissing), as the scholars has stated.

8- It is not permissible for the Muslim to cause crowds and cause annoyance to the Muslims while kissing it. This is the opinion that was adopted by most of the scholars. Ibn ‘Umar  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him used to kiss it in spite of the crowd.

9- If the Black Stone is stolen (may Allah protect us from this), as it was stolen in the past by the Qaramitah from Ar-Rafidhah, is it permissible to kiss its place?
Answer: It is not permissible to kiss its place, rather, one should say, “Allahu Akbar,” at its place.

10- It was authentically narrated that the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) kissed it with his mouth. It was also authentically narrated that he touched it with a crooked staff that he had with him and then kissed the staff, as was reported in Saheeh Muslim.

11- If a person is unable to kiss it with his mouth or touch it with a crooked staff, then he should touch it with his hand and then kiss it.

12- If a person is unable to kiss it with his mouth, touch it with a crooked staff, or with his hand, but he is able to throw a tip of his ihram over the Stone, is it permissible for him to do so?

Answer: It is permissible to do so for it was reported that Ibn ‘Abbas  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him used to touch the Stone with his clothes and kiss it. [‘Abdul-Razzaq: Musannaf with a Saheeh chain of narrators]

13- Is it permissible to kiss the Black Stone for some reasons other than Hajj and ‘Umrah?

Answer: Scholars hold the opinion that it is not permissible to kiss the Black Stone as long as one is not in ‘Umrah or Hajj. Imam Malik  may  Allah  have  mercy  upon  him allowed this. The matter should be mentioned in some detail. If kissing the Stone is related to acts of worship such as Hajj or ‘Umrah, then it should be as the other matters that are related to acts of worship and it should not be kissed.

However, if kissing the Stone is related to acts of worship and other things such as honoring and loving it, then it may be kissed at times other than those of ‘Umrah and Hajj. It was authentically narrated in Saheeh Muslim that when ‘Umar  may  Allah  be  pleased  with  him kissed it, he said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) having great love for you."

Adhkaar on Friday

Friday is one of the blessed days on which it is mustahabb (encouraged) to remember Allah, may He be exalted, a great deal in general terms.

Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allah , and remember Allah often that you may succeed”

[al-Jumu’ah 62:10].

Adhkaar that are mustahabb on other days are even more mustahabb on Friday, because of the virtue of this day.

An-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

You should understand that every dhikr that may be recited on days other than Friday may be recited on Friday too, and it is more encouraged to remember Allah a great deal on this day than on other days.
End quote from al-Adhkaar (p. 71).

Among the most important adhkaar are the adhkaar for morning and evening. We have mentioned a number of them previously, in the answer to question no. 217496. For more information about the time when they are to be recited, please see the answer to question 22765.

With regard to specific adhkaar [on Friday]:

Firstly:

Sending a great deal of blessings upon the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him):

It was narrated that Aws ibn Aws said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “One of the best of your days is Friday. On it Adam was created, on it he died, on it the Trumpet will be blown and it all creatures will swoon. So send a great deal of blessings upon me on that day, for your blessings will be shown to me.”

They said: O Messenger of Allah, how will our blessings be shown to you when you will have disintegrated? He said, “Allah, has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets.”

Narrated by Abu Dawood (1047), an-Nasaa’i (1374) and Ibn Maajah (1085). Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood (4/214); he said: Its isnaad is saheeh according to the conditions of Muslim. It was also classed as saheeh by Ibn Hibbaan and an-Nawawi. End quote.

Secondly:

Reciting (or reading) Soorat al-Kahf.

It was narrated from Abu Sa‘eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:  “Whoever recites (or reads) Soorat al-Kahf on Friday, he will be granted light from one Friday to the next.” Narrated by al-Haakim in al-Mustadrak (2/368). He said: This is a hadith of which the isnaad is saheeh, although they [al-Bukhaari and Muslim] did not narrate it. It was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel (3/93).

Thirdly:

One should be keen to constantly call upon Allah [du‘aa’] throughout the day on Friday.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) mentioned Friday, and said: “In it there is a time when, if a Muslim happens to be standing and praying at that time, asking Allah, may He be exalted, for something, He will give it to him” – and he gestured with his hand to indicate how short that time is. Narrated by al-Bukhaari (935) and Muslim (852).

There are many views concerning the definition of that time, the strongest of which are two views, as was explained by Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him), who said: The most likely of these views to be correct are two which are referred to in the proven hadiths; one of them is more likely to be correct than the other.

The first view is that this time is from when the imam sits [on the minbar] until the prayer is over. The evidence for this view is the report narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh from Abu Burdah ibn Abi Moosa, that Ibn ‘Umar said to him: Did you hear your father narrate anything from the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) concerning the hour (time when du‘aa’s are answered) on Friday? He said: Yes, I heard him say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “It is between the time when the imam sits [on the minbar] until he finishes the prayer.”

The second view is that it is after ‘Asr, and this is the view which is more likely to be correct. It is the view of ‘Abdullah ibn Salaam, Abu Hurayrah, Imam Ahmad, and others. The evidence for this view is the report narrated by Ahmad in his Musnad from Abu Sa‘eed and Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “On Friday there there is a time when, if a Muslim happens to ask Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, for something good, He will give it to him. That time is after ‘Asr.”

Abu Dawood and an-Nasaa’i narrated from Jaabir that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Friday is twelve hours, when no Muslim asks Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, for anything but Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, will give it to him. Seek it at the end of the time after ‘Asr.”

This is the view of most of the early generations (salaf), and it is supported by most of the hadiths.

The next strongest view is that it is the time of prayer.

The other views have no evidence to support them.

In my view, the time of prayer is also a time when there is strong hope of du‘aa’s being answered, for both of them are times when du‘aa’s are answered. Even though the time referred to in the hadith is the last hour after ‘Asr, because it is a specific time of the day that cannot be brought forward or put back, as for the time of the prayer, it is connected to the prayer and may be brought forward or put back, because the gathering of the Muslims, their prayer and their humble beseeching of Allah, may He be exalted, have an impact on the supplication being answered. So the time when they gather is a time when it is hoped that supplications will be answered. Thus all the hadiths may be reconciled and we understand that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) urged his ummah to call upon Allah and beseech Him at these two times.
End quote from Zaad al-Ma‘aad (1/377-382).

The scholars of the earlier and later generations differed concerning this time, and there are many views that are widely known among the Muslims. I have compiled all the views that mentioned it in Sharh al-Muhadhdhab, and explained who expressed these views, and that many of the Sahaabah were of the view that it is after ‘Asr. What is meant by standing praying is waiting for the prayer, because the one who is waiting for the prayer is in a state of prayer.

Benefits of Surah Ar-Rahman

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem
In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful

Benefits of Surah Ar-Rahman
It is commendable to recite this surah after tahajjud salat as many times as there is: FABI-AYYI AALAA-I RABBIKUMA TU KADHDHIBAAN [Then which of the bounties of your Lord will you both believe?]
Say LAA BI SHAY-IN MIN AALAA-IKA RABBEE UKADHDHIBU [None of the bounties of my Lord, I believe.]

Do not miss recitation of this sruah, recite it frequently because on the day of judgement it would take the form of a human being and stand nearest to the almighty Lord and point out, when commanded, those who had recited it in their life of the world. Their faces then would shine bright. Allah would ask them to recommend for salvation whomever they like, then they would go into paradise to dwell wherever they like.

Only the hypocrites are averse to this surah. If after reciting this surah the reciter dies, he dies the death of a martyr. Allah would have pity on a reciter if he is old and weak and bestow bounties on him.

Whoever writes this surah on paper and wears around the neck as a tawiz, Allah would make his difficult tasks easy, and if he is having sore eyes he would be fully cured; he would remain in peace, safety and protection.

If its written text is hanged in the house the dwellers of the house would remain safe from harmful animals.

Benefits of Surah Al-Muzzammil

There are 20 ayaat in this surah and it was revealed in Makkah. Some scholars say that it was revealed in Madinah. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) that a person who recites this surah will never face bad times. The person who recites it in the Isha or Tahajjud prayers always remains pure of heart and even dies while he is in a pure state.

Who recites this surah properly will get a chance to meet the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) and if he prays for something from Allah (s.w.t.) he will get it. Reciting surah al-Muzammil a hundred times on Thursday night leads to the forgiving of a hundred major sins and procures a hundred rewards. Recitation of this surah protects one from insanity and from being a slave to people.
Transliteration: Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem: Ya ayyuha almuzzammil. Qumi allayla illa qaleela. Nisfahu awi onqus minhu qaleela. Aw zid AAalayhi warattili alqur-anatarteela. Inna sanulqee AAalayka qawlan thaqeela. Inna nashi-ata allayli hiya ashaddu wat-an

So   take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good   way. And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And   give them respite for a little while.

He knows that you are unable to pray the whole night, so He has turned to you (in mercy). So, recite you of the Quran as much as may be easy for you. So recite as much of the Quran as may be easy (for you), and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give Zakat, and lend to Allah a goodly loan, and whatever good you send before you for yourselves, (i.e. Nawafil non-obligatory acts of worship: prayers, charity, fasting, Hajj and 'Umrah, etc.), you will certainly find it with Allah, better and greater in reward. And seek Forgiveness of Allah. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.

What is the purpose of Salatul Hajat?

Salatul Hajat Dua

The Messenger of Allah said, “Whoever has a need with Allah, or with any human being, then let them perform ritual ablutions and then pray two rakats. After that, let them praise Allah and send blessings (Durood) on the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).”

Laaa i-la-ha il-lal-la-hul-Ha-leemul kareem.
Sub-hanallahi rabi-bil `arshil `azeem.
Wal-Hamdu-lil-la-hi rabbil-`Alameen.
As’aluka muji-bati rah-ma-tik, wa `a-zaaa ‘i-ma mag-fira-tik, wal gha-nee-mata min kul-li birr, was-sa-la-mata min kul-li ithm.
La ta-da` li dhan-ban il-la gha-far-tah, wala ham-man il-la far-raj-tah, wala day-nan il-la ka-day-tah, wala hajatam-min ha-wa i-jid-dunya wal-aaa-khi-rah.
He-ya laka ri-dan il-la qa-day-taha yaaa ar-ha-mar-ra-he-meen.

Translation of Salatul Hajat Dua

There is no god but Allah the Clement and Wise. There is no god but Allah the High and Mighty. Glory be to Allah, Lord of Tremendous Throne. All praise is to Allah, Lord of the worlds. I ask you (O Allah) everything that leads to your mercy, and your tremendous forgiveness, enrichment in all good, and freedom from all sin. Do not leave a sin of mine (O Allah), except that you forgive it, nor any concern except that you create for it an opening, nor any need in which there is your good pleasure except that you fulfil it, O Most Merciful!

The meaning of this dua in the words of Abu Dawood is, “Whenever a matter became serious, the Prophet (PBUH) turned salah.” It means that one can plead to God at any time asking for help, for Allah is the most merciful and beneficent. Among all voluntary appeals to Allah, there is also one important prayer, which is called Salatul Hajat. It is observed for the purpose of completion of one’s particular Haajah (need). It is but one of the ways to pray to the Almighty for one’s rightful wish.

“He who makes wudu, and does it properly, then prays two rak’ats, Allah will grant him whatever he may pray for, sooner or later” (Ahmad)
